DENTAL FILLINGS

Say Goodbye to Holes and Gaps in Your Teeth with Dental Fillings

In the past, filling cavities consisted of metal fillings, which are very noticeable when compared to a patient’s natural teeth. With advances in dentistry, Scottsdale, AZ dentist, Dr. Rod Gore, offers all of their patients tooth-colored, or non-metal dental fillings.

Tooth-colored dental fillings are used to restore the shape and stability of damaged teeth and are an integral part of the restorative dental care services that our Scottsdale dental clinic provides.

Not only do they have the same great benefits as traditional fillings, but they are also more natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing. These dental fillings are matched to the natural color of the patient’s teeth and can be placed on the front or back teeth in one office visit.

Tooth-colored fillings are durable and provide good, long-term results. Dr. Gore can also remove metal fillings and replace them with tooth-colored fillings if a patient chooses.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before the actual placement of the dental filling, your Scottsdale dentist will first have to photograph and measure your teeth to create a filling that fits in size and in color. Made from resin, the filling is bonded to your damaged tooth and covers the area that needs protection.

With an experienced dentist placing the dental filling on your damaged tooth, it will fit perfectly and blend in with the appearance of your regular teeth. Just beware that this procedure might cause minor discomfort. Anesthesia will be provided for your comfort.

TREATMENT AFTERCARE

Following the filling dental procedure, you might need to let the anesthesia wear off before leaving our Scottsdale office. While your mouth is numb, you must also be mindful of chewing or biting because you will not feel it if you accidentally cut your cheeks or tongue.

The injection site in the gum area might feel sore and the tooth filled with dental fillings is likely to feel sensitive to extreme food or beverage temperatures. These are normal reactions, but you need to be careful how and what you eat in the hours after the placement of a filing.

With proper care, you will not feel any other adverse reaction. Should it happen, call our Scottsdale office immediately.

ANTICIPATED COSTS

Tooth fillings are usually covered by dental insurance if you have one. We advise contacting your insurance provider and inquire if and what percentage of the procedure is covered. If you don’t have health or dental insurance, you may pay out of pocket using our different payment options.

In general, the cost of tooth-colored dental fillings depends on how many fillings need to be placed and the material used to make them.
