dental check upDo you pick and choose who gets to see your smile? A warm and welcoming smile should be a tool for connecting with other people—not something you hide from the world! If you feel like you’ve been hiding your crowded or imperfect smile for far too long, now is a great time to think about the benefits of clear braces.

There are millions of adults who would like to correct their tooth alignment problems, but who wants to wear braces as an adult? It’s seems like an unjust Catch-22 that in order to improve your smile, you have to dress it in bright stainless-steel brackets and wires for two years. No one wants to feel like an adolescent by wearing braces again, even if the outcome is a guaranteed win.

Luckily, the days of choosing between a beautiful smile and years of stainless steel braces are behind us now. Today, you can correct your crooked teeth with Invisalign® clear braces that don’t drastically alter your appearance.

Look Your Best, Feel Your Best

Choosing to change your smile with Invisalign can be a life-changing step. Not only will you feel good about improving your oral health, you will also be improving the way you feel about your smile. A great smile can boost your self-confidence and help you put your best self forward in both your personal and professional life. It’s a win-win situation: change your smile, and look great while doing it!

The Health Benefits of Orthodontics

While many patients seek out clear braces for their cosmetic benefits, there are multiple health benefits to having straighter teeth. When teeth are crowded together it can be difficult to reach the spaces between them with toothbrush bristles and floss. Should cavities develop in those spaces, your dentist may not be able to access those areas, which can make fillings more difficult, if not impossible. More balanced tooth alignment makes teeth easier to keep clean, which helps you prevent decay and the need for restorations.

Additionally, when teeth fit together properly, you have a less of a chance of developing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. This condition occurs when the jaw joint doesn’t function optimally. It can cause pain in the face and jaw, neck pain, headaches, and damage to the teeth. Having your teeth achieve a proper state of alignment will help you keep your bite balanced and your teeth and gums healthy.

It’s Never Too Late to Straighten Your Teeth

If you’ve ever thought. “I’m too old to straighten my teeth,” think again. Millions of adults are choosing to straighten their smiles with Invisalign, and the oral health benefits are valuable at any stage of life. Actress Faye Dunaway started a course of braces in her 60s, and Nicolas Cage chose to get braces at the age of 39. Aging does not mean we give upon our appearance, and feeling good about your smile can improve your quality of life—at any age! As long as your teeth and gums are in a good state of health, Invisalign may be a valid option for you. Talk to Dr. Gore to find out if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

How Will Invisalign Change My Life?

Invisalign may bring positive changes to your appearance and oral health, but it does require some commitment on your part. With metal braces, the brackets and wires do the work for you. With Invisalign as an option, however, you have to put in the hours if you want to see good results. Patients must wear their aligners for 20-22 hours per day, which means you will need to wear them when you sleep. Essentially, the only times you should remove the aligners is when you are eating or drinking. (Only plain water can be consumed when wearing the aligners.)

Additionally, you will need to get into the habit of carrying an oral hygiene kit with you, as you will be doing a lot more brushing and flossing than usual. Invisalign patients must brush and floss their teeth before they put their aligner trays in, since any residue from foods or beverages may cause decay and staining or damage the acrylic.
