- Your teeth are cracked or chipped
- Your teeth are discolored
- Your teeth are misaligned
- Your smile is not as broad, full, or symmetrical as you would like it to be
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Apart from covering chips, cracks, and discolorations in the teeth, porcelain veneers offer plenty of other benefits.
With proper care, dental veneers can last between 10 and 15 years. Fortunately, “proper care” means good oral hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing your teeth, and keeping up with your Scottsdale dentist appointments. All these are tasks you should be doing anyway even without veneers, so they require no maintenance.
Provide a natural tooth appearance
People’s teeth aren’t just plain white. There are different shades, layers, and textures to it. Porcelain perfectly captures these nuances, providing you with real and natural-looking teeth.
Offer stain resistance
While it’s advised that you avoid eating teeth-staining food while on veneers and other forms of cosmetic dentistry products, it’s relatively safe to eat as you please. Porcelain veneers are more stain-resistant than other counterparts, thanks to their resin coating.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During your consultation, Dr. Gore will examine your teeth and determine if veneers are ideal for your teeth. He will take into account what goals you have for improving your smile and what the veneers can realistically do to enhance your smile. On a subsequent visit, we will prepare the teeth and place temporary acrylic covers over your teeth to protect them while the permanent porcelain is being made and to give you a “preview” of what the final result may be like. Once you are satisfied with the temporaries, Dr. Gore will instruct the laboratory to “mimic” the temporaries to make the permanent porcelain veneers, Dr. Gore will then bond them onto your teeth using a special technique with a light to make them very strong.
After the veneers are placed you will have a follow-up appointment to do any final cosmetic artistic contouring or shaping of the porcelain if necessary, the harmony of the bite between upper and lower teeth will be evaluated and adjusted if necessary. At this appointment, digital scanning or impressions may be taken to fabricate a protective night guard if that was part of your treatment plan. Post-op photos will also be taken to help you “show off” your new beautiful smile!
The cost will vary depending upon how many teeth are to be treated and the complexity of the process. Because this is a cosmetic procedure, it is unlikely that you will have insurance benefits to help but our team will absolutely assist in checking to verify this potential.
Do Veneers Stain?
Porcelain veneers are stain-resistant, but if you are a heavy coffee or tea drinker or smoker you may have to brush your teeth more frequently to remove it but the stain will not be permanent.
Covered By Insurance?
Porcelain veneers are a part of cosmetic dentistry products and services, so they are most likely not a part of your health insurance. Don’t worry, though, because our Scottsdale office offers various flexible payment options for patients who may need them.
Veneers Special Care?
Veneers are low-maintenance cosmetic solutions to cracked, chipped, and stained teeth. As long as you keep up good oral hygiene with regular brushing and flossing, and schedule visits with your dentist, your veneers will hold up well without any special care.
Porcelain veneers can address small cosmetic dental issues that are visible when you talk or smile. It’s the ideal solution for covering cracks and chips, as well as whitening severely stained teeth. We also use veneers to close slight gaps between your front teeth. Many times veneers are used to do a complete smile makeover to enhance the beauty and functional wear problems together.
