CLEAR ALIGNER THERAPY

Invisalign: The Dentist-Approved Alternative to Traditional Metal Braces

Clear Aligner Therapy is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry services from Rod W. Gore DDS.

This uses clear plastic aligners (similar to bleaching trays) to gradually move your teeth into their proper positions. These invisible aligners are swapped out for new ones every one to two weeks for a period of six to 18 months (or longer, depending on the severity of the misalignment).

Anyone in Scottsdale can benefit from Clear Aligner Therapy. Kids can start active orthodontic treatment between 8 and 14 to correct misalignment as soon as possible. If you’re an adult with misaligned teeth (even if you’ve worn braces before), you can have your crooked teeth straightened subtly with clear aligner braces.

Dr. Gore recommends clear aligners to patients who wish to properly align their teeth without metal brackets and wires. At Rod W. Gore DDS, you can get Invisalign clear aligners. This brand is the pioneer of clear aligner systems and is recognized worldwide.

The teeth aligners from Invisalign straighten out your teeth without compromising the natural look of your smile. Many people may not even realize that you are wearing your clear aligners during the day because they are relatively invisible.

All of our services start with a consultation. Dr. Gore will analyze your teeth’s condition and position before he creates a custom treatment plan that accounts for the movements of your teeth and the duration of your treatment. Once you have your clear aligners made and ready to wear, we recommend wearing them from 20 to 22 hours a day to ensure optimal results.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Clear Aligner Therapy or Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation with Dr. Gore in our Scottsdale clinic. We’ll evaluate the current state of your teeth, then create a custom digital treatment plan that maps out each step of how to bring your smile back.

Once you agree, we’ll take a digital impression of your teeth and send it to Invisalign so they can create custom aligners. Each set of aligners are smooth and made from BPA-free plastic so they’re comfortable to wear.

You’ll wear one set of invisible aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, before changing to a new set of aligners after 1 to 2 weeks. Each set of aligners gradually move your teeth into the ideal position until you reach the final one and achieve a newer, more beautiful smile.

Throughout the process, you will have regular checkups with Dr. Gore to confirm your teeth’s progress. The overall length of the treatment depends on the starting condition of your teeth. Most patients achieve their ideal smile between 1 and 2 years of undergoing the treatment properly.

TREATMENT AFTERCARE

Once you’re done with the treatment, Dr. Gore will likely recommend wearing retainers. This will keep your teeth in a firm position and prevent them from shifting back to their initial, crooked one.

Apart from retainers, you’ll want to keep your more beautiful smile with good oral hygiene. Brush and floss every day and visit Rod W. Gore DDS for regular checkups and cleaning. With these, we can make sure your teeth and gums are in excellent condition and catch a problem early on if one arises.

ANTICIPATED COSTS

Sometimes clear aligners are not covered by insurance, but our administrative team will call to check if any of the costs are covered by your particular insurance carrier. The cost of Clear Aligner Therapy will depend on the difficulty of the movement or the number of aligners necessary to achieve your goals. The dentist or administrative team will go over the estimated costs and financing options during the consultation.

A PERFECTLY ALIGNED SMILE

Clear Aligner Therapy trays are mostly invisible. Clear aligners straighten your teeth without drawing attention to it, unlike traditional braces with brackets and wires. It’s a great option for patients who aren’t comfortable with “metal smiles.”

Since they are made from plastic, Clear Aligner Therapy trays are more comfortable compared to their conventional counterparts. There are no extruding/sharp edges that hamper how you eat, drink, or smile.

The Invisalign treatment is safe and effective for all ages, but they work best for teenagers and young adults. If you have an overbite or underbite, crowded or gapped teeth, or crooked teeth, the Clear Aligner Therapy will be especially suited for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better: braces or Invisalign?

Braces and Invisalign are both designed to straighten your teeth, but you have to consult your dentist to decide which one is better for you. Both of them have their pros and cons.

Braces have been an effective tool for correcting misaligned teeth for decades. But they have plenty of side effects, including pain and discomfort, especially for the first week as your teeth gets used to the pressure of the wires and bands. Braces are also non-removable, so they can restrict the food you can eat. You also have to navigate around them while brushing and flossing.

Invisalign, meanwhile, offers an alternative to teeth alignment that doesn’t interfere with how you look. With the plastic aligners appearing virtually invisible, they’re not a hindrance when you’re in public. Plus, they’re removable, so you can eat, brush, and floss without difficulties. The only inconveniences are the frequent changing of aligners and the need for regular dental checkups.

What are the benefits of invisible aligners?

Invisible aligners are non-obtrusive to your appearance and daily life. As these are virtually invisible, you can smile, talk, and eat without worry or consciousness. Each tray is also made from smooth plastic, so they’re comfortable to wear. And, of course, you will get a more beautiful smile by the end of your treatment.

How long does Clear Aligner Therapy take?

The average treatment time for clear aligners is between 6 and 18 months, but can go up to 24 months. It also varies depending on the starting condition of your teeth. It’s important to adhere to the recommended schedule of wearing the aligners, which is 20-22 hours a day. If you take it off often, it may prolong the overall treatment time.

Do clear aligners hurt?

Since clear aligners are made from plastic, they’re comfortable to wear. But, like other orthodontic treatment, wearing the Invisalign trays might be uncomfortable at first as they put pressure on your teeth. However, the pain is mild compared to the pain of wearing metal braces. But once your mouth has adjusted you will barely feel like you’re wearing them.

How do you clean Invisalign clear aligners?

It’s easy to clean your Invisalign clear aligners. You simply have to rinse them with lukewarm water every night and gently brush them with your toothbrush. You can also use the Invisalign Cleaning System, which we can order for you. Apart from these, you simply have to brush your teeth after every meal before putting the aligners back on.
